This is one of those unusual items that you hate to need but if you need it your glad to have it! An original design Wiggy’s Inc. of Grand Junction, Colorado, The Hypothermia Victim Bag is manufactured and distibuted, under license, in Canada, by Zulu Nine, It is, as the name would imply, designed for evacuation of hypothermia victims, or injured persons at risk of cold environment exposure. The Hypothermia Victims Bag (HVB) is very well thought out with input from rescue professionals. In fact it is currently in use with the famous Canadian military SARTEC’s.

Such a device could not have been built had it not been for the availability of the machine washable and very durable Lamilite® L15 insulation. The HVB can take the rugged wilderness, deliver the patient, and then be machined washed (Even in an agitator home style machine!), leaving it clean and ready for the next patient.

We know of no other Hypothermia bag on the market that can make this claim.

All the features a Medic could want are there. The entire top of the HVB can be unzipped to allow for easy placement of the patient. On the inside of the chest region is an oversize pocket for heat packs or a hot water bottle. The head region can be closed leaving a hole big enough for an oxygen mask. Should the patient require aid to the head or face left and right flaps can be folded and secured out of the way with Velcro®. I.V. hatches that also can be secured open or closed with Velcro® are provided on both sides of the bag. In the middle of the HVB top you will find a catheter hatch that also secures closed with Velcro®. At the base of the HVB you will find a handy center zip that allows access to either or both of the patients legs.

The base of the HVB is 1000 denier Cordura® nylon, for high abrasion and tear resistance. Also on the bottom is a unique strap arrangement that provides for a support board and integrates 10 carry handles.

Each HVB comes with its own Double Extra Large Zulu Nine Gear Girdle for protection and ease of storage.
